From the primitive age, plants and marines have been used to cure serious complications of health and are still very significant. Their derived products are used either as such or template in the discovery of new drugs. Several biologically active secondary metabolites have been used for their medicinal values. Hence to understand the chemistry, metabolite composition and alterations in plant, marines and biofluids, along with quality profile and quality control, is the need of hours. We are currently working on metabolite profiling, and quality control of some medicinally important crops of western Himalaya using NMR, UPLC-MS/MS and HPTLC techniques. Moreover, we are also working to find out mechanistic role of medicinal plants and their derived products (Lower to Trans Himalaya) using modern analytical techniques based metabolomic approaches for toxicity, safety and action in health disorders such as Brain, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular, inflammatory, respiratory, liver disorders.
Major Research Interests
- Isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites from nature.
- Pharmacognostical studies, standardization and evaluation of traditional medicines.
- Development of analytical methods for quality control.
- Herbal and Ayurvedic product development along with development of NDDS.
- Plant metabolomics and marine drug discovery.
